WHO ARE WE?

Plankton Art Co. presents itself mainly as an illustration studio, but the projects we work on can be quite diverse: art direction, design, fine art, typography, animation, freelance writing, book publishing, and even motion pictures.

Plankton Art Co began in 1996. Although our styles are very different, we often have a hand in one another's work, sometimes working together on a single project. Over the years, we've had the privilege of working for clients like Target, The Smithsonian Zoo, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Businessweek, Knopf, Discovery.com, Ride, Chronicle, Hasbro, Bloomberg, The Rosenbach Museum, Bell, Le Grand Magistery, Random House, Comedy Central, Renault, Time Out NY, Phish, Lincoln Center Theater, Warner Bros., and The American Museum of Natural History.

(We once got a call from Bruce Campbell, but a project never materialized, sadly.)

We've designed sequin-covered billboards, swizzle sticks, bus wraps, plush dolls, silk pocket squares, and flocked wallpaper. We've even turned our tools on ourselves, writing, designing and illustrating a book, which has won an avid following and has been optioned for film. Our work has been shown in numerous venues, like Jonathan LeVine Gallery, and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.

We met in college while studying to become biologists. We're still heavily influenced and inspired by living things, which play a large role in our everyday lives.

We happily offer our sincerest thanks to our clients for their kind patronage.
